The Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) requires financial advisers to consider sustainability risks and, where relevant, the principal adverse impacts of investment decisions on sustainability factors when providing investment, pension and insurance-based investment product (IBIP) advice.
In accordance with SFDR, when providing advice on investments and insurance-based investment products (IBIPs), we assess, in addition to relevant financial risks, relevant sustainability risks as far as this information is available to the products being considered. Sustainability risks are environmental, social or governance (ESG) events or conditions that, if they occur, could have a material negative impact on the value of an investment.
As part of our research and assessment process, we review the Product Provider’s literature to compare financial products and to make informed investment decisions about ESG products. This information is reviewed by the Firm on an ongoing basis. The Firm will always act in the client’s best interests and keep clients informed accordingly. The consideration of sustainability risks can impact on the returns of financial products.
If sustainability risks are considered relevant, we assess the likely impact of those risks on the returns of the IBIPs on which we advise. This assessment is based on the information provided by the product provider in the relevant product documentation and sustainability disclosures.
We are remunerated by commission from product providers. When assessing products, we consider the different approaches adopted by providers in integrating sustainability risks into their investment processes and product offerings. This forms part of our overall product selection process.
We take due care so that our internal remuneration policy with respect to investment or insurance advice on insurance-based investment products (‘IBIPs’) promotes sound and effective risk management in relation to sustainability risks and does not encourage excessive risk‐taking in relation to such risks.
It is important that you read your Product Provider’s documentation, as it explains whether and how sustainability risks and principal adverse impacts on sustainability factors are taken into account in the product you have selected.
